SF-1 (Steroidogenic Factor 1) is a 52-kDa nuclear receptor transcription factor that activates the promoters of many key genes involved in steroidogenesis, adrenal development, and reproduction (CYP11A, CYP11B, CYP21B, AHCH, STAR, etc.) within the body. It is expressed in the adrenal gland and reproductive axis both during fetal development and in adulthood. High expression is observed in the adrenal cortex, pituitary, ovaries (granulosa and theca cells), testes (sertoli and leydig cells), and spleen.
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human testis. Anti-Steroidogenic Factor 1/SF-1 antibody was used at 1/100 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
