ATRIP stands for ATR-interacting protein. It works together with ATR (ataxia-telangiectasia mutated and Rad3-related) as a crucial component in the cell cycle checkpoint signaling pathway. Both ATR and ATRIP localize to intranuclear foci following DNA damage or replication inhibition. They are essential for the viability of human somatic cells and are interdependent in the cell cycle checkpoint signaling pathways. Furthermore, ATRIP plays a significant role in the DNA damage response. Together with ATR, it phosphorylates and transmits damage signals to effectors, initiating the repair process.
