Phospho-RIP3 (Ser232) is a phosphorylated form of the receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 3 (RIPK3), which plays a crucial role in regulating necroptosis, a form of programmed cell death. When phosphorylated at Ser232, RIPK3 is activated and forms a necrosis-inducing complex with other proteins such as RIPK1 and MLKL. This phosphorylation event is essential for the recruitment and activation of MLKL, which subsequently executes necroptosis by causing plasma membrane damage and calcium influx. Additionally, Phospho-RIP3 (Ser232) can also participate in apoptosis regulation and metabolic processes in certain cell types.
