Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) has been a mysterious cytokine. MIF has assumed an important role as a pivotal regulator of innate immunity. In the pathogenesis of sepsis, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, suggesting that MIF-directed therapies might offer new treatment opportunities for human diseases in the future.
The specific activity is determined by binding rhCD74 in a functional ELISA. The EC50 for this effect is 1.5-2μg/ml.
