Interleukin-11 (IL-11) is a cytokine that belongs to the interleukin-6 (IL-6) family of cytokines. IL-11 is produced by various cell types, including stromal cells, fibroblasts, and immune cells, and plays a critical role in regulating hematopoiesis, bone metabolism, and gastrointestinal mucosal integrity. IL-11 exerts its effects through binding to the IL-11 receptor complex, leading to the activation of signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. IL-11 is known for its anti-inflammatory and tissue-protective properties, making it a potential therapeutic target for various inflammatory and tissue injury-related conditions.
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using TF-1 human erythroleukemic cells. The EC50 for this effect is less than 1ng/ml.
