It contains a N-terminal domain of IGFBP and a thyroglobulin 1 type domain. IGFBP prolongs the half-life of insulin-like growth factor and has been shown to inhibit or stimulate the stimulative effects of insulin-like growth factor on cell culture. They alter the interaction of IGF with its cell surface receptors.
