Bouchon A, Dietrich J, Colonna M. Cutting edge: inflammatory responses can be triggered by TREM-1, a novel receptor expressed on neutrophils and monocytes. J Immunol. 2000;164:4991–5.
The TREM-1 protein, a pivotal cell surface receptor, plays a crucial role in amplifying inflammatory responses within both the innate and adaptive immune systems. Activation of TREM-1 by ligands such as PGLYRP1, HMGB1, or HSP70 triggers multimerization of the receptor and subsequent complex formation with the signaling adaptors TYROBP (also known as DAP12).
